Summer holiday 2003
le Cap D´Agde − France

Monday, 7th July

You´re in France and what is the first thing you do in the morning? That´s right! You get some fresh French bread and croissants! This results in another great breakfast. Since we are short of groceries we decide to go to the InterMarche at Agde for some shopping. As we leave the temperature is already soaring, it is at least 30 degrees.

The lady at the park office was so kind to give us directions to the InterMarche. Driving through Agde we spot the supermarket at the left side of the road with a huge parking area in front of it. The million-dollar question is how to get to there! The entrance is somewhat concealed between the other entrances and exits from other shops, and we have already passed it. After having turned the car we drive back and enter the parking lot.

Since last year we are used to these incredibly big supermarkets. We get our groceries, some fresh bread and some pastry. For personal reasons I include a tray with 24 tins of beer. I am expecting a heat wave you see, and I don´t trust the tap water here! I have no choice in the matter, not as far as I can see!

By the time we reach the car again it is impossible to put your hand on its roof, that hot it is. So, we get in and we hurry back to the park, because we don´t want the deep frozen groceries to thaw out.

Early in the afternoon I find that I have been sitting around long enough. I want to go walk-about! The boys have heard yesterday´s stories about the shells and the fish and the crabs, and they want to tag along and see these for them self´s. The rest of the gang considers it to hot to move. Can you believe that? I am asking you, it´s only a mere 33 degrees in the shade. That´s all!

We walk to the "la Roquille" beach, and sit down for a moment in the burning hot sand. We take off our shoes, step into the refreshing water and stroll through the waterline whilst seeking for animal life and shells.

Every now and then I take a break and sit down on the beach, observing how shells are carefully being examined for hermit crabs. We just found out that in lots of the larger shells of sea snails, hermit crabs have started their household. So, the hunt is open.

Gradually we move further down the beach while scrutinising the seafloor. When at some stage I take a look at my watch, I notice that it´s already 16:41 hr., and it´s time to go back to the apartment for diner.

After diner the whole family takes a walk along the ports quay. We walk around, we look around and then we turn around! We go back and we turn in for the night.

A short description? What do you mean a short description? It is a repetition of yesterday, mate! If you want details then skip one page back.
