Summer holiday 2004
le Cap D´Agde − France
Monday, 5th July
We sleep late this morning. I suppose all of us are still more or less affected by the journey south. After having finished breakfast we go for some shopping to one of the local shopping Malls. There is quite a large one in the vicinity of Agde. As we arrive there, it proves we are not the only ones here. It is so very crowded, and that is only the parking lot! And this is Monday morning! I can´t believe my eyes. Inside it is no better. We therefore get what we came here for and wrestle our way out of here. At least, that is what it feels like. Fortunately getting out of here goes a lot quicker then getting in here.
Having returned to the apartment we unload the groceries and sit down and have some tea, coffee or a soda and a moment of quite. Since the weather is nice and sunny, we decide to take a walk around the port´s shopping area. We buy some picture postcards for sending home and stroll to the "Plage du Mole" beach. My son then reminds me of my promise to go to the beach together and search for marine life and shells. The others already have had enough and they decide to return to the apartment.
The both of us head out for the rocky outcrops with the tide pools. We wander from pool to pool into the direction of the "Plage de la Roquille" beach. Here the beach is quite crowded and I don´t really want to wander across the overcrowded sandy stretch of beach. Therefore we also return to the apartment. The rest of the afternoon is mostly spent in the pool, reading or just lying about doing absolutely nothing. How about that!
Tonight the animation team has organized a children´s disco. The kids that have gathered are mostly under ten years of age. My kids exceeded this age a long time ago but still it is an entertaining thing to watch. The captain of the animation team is the same one as last years. So are a few of the other crew members, but not all of them. The music starts loudly and the animation team takes the lead in song and dance. The children are encouraged to join in with the singing and dancing. During the break the members of the animation team hand out soft drinks like cola and some other sodas. After the drinks another session starts during which the parents are also encouraged to join in.
Having enjoyed the disco pandemonium we return to the apartment where we hang around, have a drink and enjoy the cool evening before turning in.
