le Cap D´Agde − France


Saturday, 22th July

It is a wonderful morning as we go for breakfast at around 8:00 AM. Outside on the terrace in the cool of the shade we sit down. While having a nice breakfast we relax and watch the rising of the morning sun. We indulge in fresh roles, fresh croissants with marmalade and delicious rich thick French yoghurt with breakfast cereals. I love this! After breakfast I return to our room and work some more on the first couple of pages of my travel journal while the kids take a dive in the pool. We have the rooms to ourselves until noon. No rushing at all!

Since we are not in a hurry, we will not receive the key to our apartment until two o´clock this afternoon; we decide not to take the turnpike road. Instead we will take the country roads and start following directions to Lansargues, Mauguio, and Lattes. This brings us even closer to the coast. We cruise through small villages like Frontignan, circle around Sète and head for Cap D´Agde across the coastal road that lies on top of the large dune strip that separates the Mediterranean Sea from the Bassin de Thau.

When we arrive at the resort in Cap D´Agde, we still need to wait a half an hour before the reception desks opens. When the office opens we check in and get the key of the apartment. The car is unloaded and parked and the bags are unpacked. In the meanwhile droplets off perspiration are running down my chest. It feels like I have tap water running down my chest. It is now about 38 to 40 degrees Celsius. And no air-conditioning here folks!

We spend the remainder of the day relaxing on the terrace behind the apartment while the kids take a swim. During the evening we have a walk around the large Marina after which we have an early night.
